JEFF MARSHALL UPSETS STELLAR

RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY LATE MODEL FIELD

Mother Nature finally gave Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire, a great evening for racing last Saturday night, and the crowd and race teams came out in force on Vermont Broadcast Associates Night. Winners on the evening included Jeff Marshall, Luke Shannon, Tori Delabruere, Kate Demar and Aric Cole.

The Gilmour Jeep / Ford / Dodge Late Models rolled to the line some nineteen strong for their forty lap main event, and what a show they produced.  Brian Greer led well past the half-way mark before his water pump let loose, sending the field scrambling in turn two. When the race resumed, it was now a six car battle to the end, with no less then four cars swapping the lead over the final eight laps. When it was all said and done, rookie driver, Jeff Marshall captured his career first LMS win. It was no easy task he had to hold off another high flying rookie, Ryan Delabruere at the finish. Mike Kenison, Howard Switser and Reno Gervais completed the top five. Charlie Rockwell, Gervais and Brooks Clark won their respective qualifiers.

Luke Shannon was a bridesmaid for the first three Budweiser Super Stock events in 2007, but he finally walked down the aisle with the checkers in hand earning a convincing win over Jeff Fysh, Denny Degreenia, Nathan Swallow and Dan Sidney. Heat wins went to Sidney and Fysh.

It was a night for rookies, as young Tori Delabruere, whom last year cut her teeth in the Daredevil Youth Racers, upset the field, and grabbed her first ever River Bend RV Street Stock feature win. Troy Randall, Chris Hodgdon, Alex Theroux and Shawn Swallow rounded out the top five. Delabruere and Michael Smith won the preliminary rounds.

The Leo Enos Landscaping Angels put on a great show, as defending champion, Kate Demar found victory lane for the first time in 2007. It was no easy task as she was challenged all the way by Jennie Dion. Ciara McCoy, Linda Ball and Allison Brown raced home second through fifth.

Charlie Rockwell crossed the finish line first in the Jiffy Mart Cyclones, but failed post race inspection due to tire infractions, thus giving the win to Aric Cole. This was round number one of the Nu-Concepts Marketing, Bear Ridge / Riverside Hornet vs Cyclone Challenge Series. Moving up the ladder in the finishing order were Jason Kenison, Jeff Ainsworth, Josh Lafleur and Andy Simpson.

This Saturday will feature the return of the Outlaw Sportsman, as Richard’s Autobody presents a night at the races. Joining the Outlaws will be the Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Daredevils. Post time is 6pm. Riverside Speedway is located off Route 3, on Brown Road in Groveton , New Hampshire .
