THE SIGN DEPOT TO SPONSOR NEW MINI-TRUCK DIVISION AT RIVERSIDE SPEEDWAY

Riverside Speedway’s new General Managers Jean and Jane LeBlanc are pleased to announce that The Sign Dept out of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, will be the primary sponsor for the new four cylinder Tornado Mini Truck division, throughout the 2010 season. The stock four cylinder pickup truck division includes Toyota, Nissan, Dodge Dakota, Chevy S-10, and Ford Rangers. The trucks can be driven by any driver over the age of 14.

“We listened to what some of the drivers were asking for,” said LeBlanc. “Knowing that people in the North Country were looking for a facility to possibly race at, we decided to give it a try at Riverside. As with any new division that you try to start up, we will have the trucks run with our Cyclone division, until they reach a truck total of eight. If there are only five trucks to start the season, they will be awarded points accordingly, no matter where they finish in the Cyclone race. The highest finishing truck will get first place points and prize money and so on down the line. Once we reach eight trucks, we will then separate them, to run by them selves.” The division will remain primarily as a “STOCK” division, with the ride height being the only thing that can be modified to be run at a six inch level. The trucks will also be allowed to run on a seven inch white spoke steel rim, to help in the stability of the trucks. The Truck division will be allowed to run the speedway’s 14” 195/60 track tire.

“We are extremely excited to have The Sign Depot come on as the sponsor of the division,” said LeBlanc. “Tina Simpson and her staff are very excited to be working with us at Riverside and hopefully we will watch the division continue to grow all season long.” The Sign Depot has also agreed to give the first year champion, a gift certificate to have their truck graphically designed and lettered free of charge for the 2011 season. The Sign Depot will be the Speedway’s sponsor on August 7th. The track will hold a special event for the Mini-Trucks on that night.

“Both of my sons got their start racing four cylinder-trucks,” LeBlanc stated. “They are fun to watch because they can tend to be a hand full to drive. We have had several inquiries about the new division since we posted the rules on the web site. Hopefully that will develop into a solid core of new racers.”

Riverside Speedway is a ¼ mile high banked asphalt track in Groveton, NH, that is sanctioned by P.A.S.S.
